About
Born in Rochdale, North England, Roger Tweedale had a career spanning over 40 years as a professional drummer. After turning pro in 1964, he appeared in a wide variety of bands incuding Wayne Fontana And The Mindbenders, Kiki Dee and Soloman King. During this vast career he toured numerous countries, from American army bases in Germany to the Shah's palace in 1970s Iran - with many a wild story to tell along the way! He has also played at venues the length and breadth of the British Isles. His band appeared on the same bill as The Silver Beatles at a gig on Lloyd Street in Manchester. They were also supported by a very early Queen, and met the Jackson 5 in Edinburgh in the early 70s.
As well as his musical career, Roger appeared as a supporting actor on a wide variety of popular UK televison programmes including Emmerdale, Heartbeat and most notably as the postman on Coronation Street for 16 years.
